Ricky Hatton’s Son Shares Heartfelt Homage to His Deceased Father
The former champion’s son Campbell expressed an heartfelt tribute in his first public message following his father’s passing.
Messages of condolence been shared around the sports world and beyond after the loss of the former world boxing titleholder, that was discovered at his property this past weekend at the age of mid-forties.
“There are no words to describe how I feel,” wrote his son alongside a series of cherished images.
“Everyone always noted I resembled your spitting image – never a more accurate word uttered. Always looked up to you in all part of life.”
He continued: “It’s impossible to describe how much I’m going to miss the jokes we shared and all of the good memories, which I will treasure always. Just can’t believe we can no longer have another. I love you, Dad.”
Local authorities confirmed that the boxing legend had been found on his property based in the Manchester area. The department stated that there were not any suspicious factors related to the event.
In a path similar to his dad, Campbell once pursued a profession in the ring, taking his paid first appearance in the past few years. He subsequently stepped away from the sport earlier this year.
The following day, the relatives of Hatton released a message conveying that they were “profoundly touched” by the generous outpouring of love and kindness directed their way.
“Richard was not only than a sports figure. To us, he was only ‘Richard,’ our child. A caring father, elder, and brother, and a genuine friend to countless people,” the message stated.
“He had a heart as large as his expression, and his generosity, wit, and faithfulness touched everyone fortunate enough to experience him.
“To the rest of the world, Hatton will permanently be known as one of boxing’s most iconic figures – a person who gave every ounce inside the bouts and wore his feelings on his sleeve.”
